Laminate flooring has a fiberboard core with a photographic layer on top, and is covered on top and bottom by a layer of plastic. It comes in long planks that snap together and is easy to install yourself. Laminate flooring resists stains and fading better than wood. Laminate floors are durable and wear well. Commercial products can come in either level loop, cut pile, graphic, and carpet tiles. It's the most durable carpet mainly used for commercial applications, rental property, some residential areas.

Berber is a very durable for traffic areas, inherently stain resistance. Berber fiber is tightly weaved together and most also has a percentage of Nylon fiber, which is highly resilience and springs back into place.

No matter what you call it frieze, twist, California berber, or shag this style of carpet is back. It's no longer green or orange (unless you dig it) and throw away the rake.
